St.Dennis Incinerator Group (S.T.I.G.) is a group of local residents formed following the concerns voiced by the local community at a public meeting on 2nd November 2005, on the possible siting of a mass burn incinerator close to the village of St.Dennis.
Cornwall County Council is planning to make massive changes to the way it manages Cornwall’s waste. This includes plans to build a massive incinerator within 500 metres of St.Dennis to deal with all Cornwall’s waste. This incinerator will burn 240,000 tonnes of waste for at least 30 years. It will have a stack height of 120 Metres and will produce over 55,000 tonnes of bottom ash and over 6,000 tonnes of highly toxic fly ash every year.
S.T.I.G. strongly feel that this is not the will of the residents of St.Dennis and the surrounding villages and properties.
Please support us by attending our meetings. Look for meetings of the Group at regular intervals and also fund raising events.
Everybody in St.Dennis is welcome to come along to the meetings and it is essential that the Group have the support of the whole community in its fight to prevent an incinerator being built in Cornwall.
Details of meetings and events will be posted throughout the area.
