Think before I speak
Contemplate before I communicate. Proverbs 16 v 23, 18 v 20, 20 v 25. Choose your commitments carefully. Don’t promise something you can’t fulfill. What we say can win friends or make enemies.
Speak the truth
We live in a world of truth decay. The failure to be frank with people! Proverbs 10 v 10. We hold back the truth to avoid conflict. Dishonesty destroys relationships. Proverbs 24 v 26. Dishonesty is a sign of a lack of love. Talk and work through it. Proverbs 28 v 23
Speak the truth in love
Proverbs 12 v 18. We can hurt or heal people with our words. Verbal rejection. External wounds heal quicker than internal wounds. Proverbs 15 v 4, 12 v 6. How often do I encourage others? Do I give more pokes than strokes? Our words are the windows of our souls. Our words reveal our character. Matthew 15 v 18.
